General News:

100 Health Walks and Counting

23.4.15

On Tuesday 21 April, Charlie Skene participated in his 100th Health Walk.

Woodside Health Walks started in February 2013 and Charlie was one of the eight original members. Charlie is considered to be the heart and soul of the walk, constantly striving to construct a happy and vibrant atmosphere not only for members but visitors too.

The immense enjoyment Charlie gained from participating in the walk meant he needed no prompting to volunteer and he became a fully trained health walk leader in June 2013. He is still a walk leader today.

His achievement is all the more notable following a health scare leading to a short stay in hospital only 6 months ago. Prior to that Charlie had achieved 86 consecutive walks, in its self quite an achievement.

He hopes his achievement can encourage others to come along and join.

A Health Walk is a short walk of 30 to 60 minutes set at the pace of the slowest walker.

Woodside Health Walk takes place every Tuesday starting at 11 am from the Fountain Community Centre, Great Northern Road.
