25.7.16

The 2016 City of Aberdeen Bowling Tournament concluded with an exciting day of action at Westburn Outdoor Sports Centre.

Running from the 17th – 23rd July, the competition was fierce in the various categories as the tournament boasted impressive attendance. Over 240 participants took part in the tournament which became an officially ranked event last year.

Among the highlights was Frankie Stevenson’s 23-13 victory against Keith Morrison in the men’s singles championship, which completed a hat trick of trophies for the Aberchirder bowler.

Whilst In the women’s singles competition it was Sandra Dean from Elgin who would take the glory, beating Karen Murray of Cults in the final 21-16 as she quickly shook off her defeat in the mixed pairs final.

The finals day rounded off what was already a fantastic tournament despite the persistently poor weather conditions. Competitors across every category had to be at their very best. Congratulations to all the winners and competitors for making this year’s tournament one to remember.
