Running from the 19th – 25th July, competition was fierce in the various categories as the tournament became an official ranked event for the first time.

Over 200 participants took part at Westburn Outdoor Centre with new sponsors Specsavers lending their support alongside Bowls Scotland and Tailor Bowls.

But it was Willie who stole the show with a record performance on the final day. Competing across three disciplines including Men’s Singles, Men’s Doubles and Mixed Doubles he became the first person to win all three titles on the same day.

But the day was far from being as easy as it sounds for Willie who had stiff competition and was facing defeat. On the wrong end of an 18-6 score line in the Men’s Singles Willie looked all but beaten but rallied to a miraculous comeback.

Marking his 35th year taking part in the tournament, Willie also won the Mixed Doubles title with Ruby Paterson before another special victory in the Men’s Doubles with his son Kevin.

The impressive achievement rounded off what was already a fantastic tournament in which the weather was merciful and competitors across every category had to be at their very best.

Congratulations to all the winners and competitors for making this year’s tournament one to remember.
