Registered charity Sport Aberdeen rallied together employees and members to take on the Longest Day Golf Challenge in June.

16 people, making up two teams, took part in the UK-wide event where fundraisers embarked on four rounds of golf back to back, working out to be 72 holes played and around 300 shots hit.

The teams walked over 29 kilometres in total, starting at 5.45am and finishing at 9.30pm, raising over £1,600, beating their original target and last year’s total.

The event is part of a national fundraising campaign by MacMillan Cancer Support and is a true endurance test for golfers with over 3,000 teams taking on the challenge last year, raising £1.5 million to help people affected by cancer.

“We had a brilliant turn out this year with Sport Aberdeen staff and members clubbing together to take part and offer up support for the golfers in this demanding challenge.

“Sport Aberdeen is committed to playing a positive role in the community, and this fundraising challenge has been led by colleagues using their own time. It’s a positive reflection upon the company and I hope to see even more people taking this on next year.”
