At Westburn Tennis Centre we offer tennis coaching for all ages and abilities through the Aberdeen Tennis Academy. 

Our professional tennis pathway is in place to support both junior and adult player development on a continual learning basis, allowing you to develop your tennis skills throughout the whole year. Our aim is to create opportunities for everyone to achieve their desired goals, from developing their game both technically and tactically, playing tennis in competitions, increasing health and fitness or simply to have lots of fun and meet new friends. Aberdeen Tennis Academy members will receive a number of benefits including:
  • Free access to our outdoor tennis courts; inclusive use of our outdoor courts for you and a guest. This will give you the opportunity to start participating in our ‘in-house’ competitions through box leagues.
  • Coaching from Academy professionals; our coaches are all trained, qualified and accredited through the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA), which is our UK National Governing Body for Tennis.
  • Continuous assessment; supported by a player development pathway in line with the British Tennis framework.

Mini Tennis (3 - 10 years) 

Children between 3 and 10 years old can now get stuck into the world of tennis with an exciting programme delivered at Westburn Tennis Center, as per the LTA (Lawn Tennis Association) development framework in line with competition structure at each age level. All tennis programmes at Westburn Tennis Center are delivered by LTA qualifies and accredited coaches.

With smaller courts, nets and rackets and lower bouncing balls, Mini Tennis offers the perfect introduction to the sport, with all the fun and energy of the real thing.

There are four stages of LTA Mini Tennis; Tots, Red, Orange and Green, each with their own court size and type of ball. This tailored approach enables players to develop vital skills and techniques at an early age.

Junior Tennis (11 -18 years)

Our Junior Tennis Programme is starts from 11+ years. These coaching sessions are delivered on full size courts with full compression balls. This is in line with the LTA coaching pathway and competition framework, which is consistent throughout the UK (LTA = National Governing Body for Tennis). Tennis coaches are LTA qualified and accredited.

Junior Classes:

Players enter and progress through the pathway depending on their age and ability. Within each stage of the pathway (e.g. Silver or Gold), levels exist to group participants of a similar ability together. This enables our coaches to deliver quality bespoke sessions to set classes, with the aim of targeting specific areas of the game to develop and improve.We encourage all tennis players to enter and play all forms of competition. Matchplay experience complements coaching and promotes player development, in both fun and competitive environments.

Adult Tennis 

These courses are delivered at Westburn Tennis Centre by our team of LTA(Lawn Tennis Association) qualified & accredited coaches. Classes will cover both technical and tactical coaching, through a mixture of drills and games. You can join a coaching course at any point during the block and pay the pro rata price. 


Our Beginner Coaching Courses are designed for first time players who have limited or no experience with tennis. It will teach you the fundamentals of this fabulous game.

Can you hit the ball with control, sustain a short rally at slow pace and are capable of serving the ball into play? Then our Intermediate Coaching Courses are for you! This is the ideal programme to help you make that crucial step from an intermediate to becoming a more competitive player.


Wednesday- 9pm - 10pm

Sunday- 8pm - 9pm


Our Advanced Courses are designed for players who exhibit aggressive ground strokes and can play a competitive set of tennis. Players will improve their court coverage and shot accuracy at all levels of the court. Players will work on forceful shot play in singles and doubles and serving the ball with pace and a variety of spin.
