Joining our Active Lifestyles community will enable you to stay socially connected and active whilst improving your wellbeing.

The programme of activities runs at venues across the City.  From exercise classes and walking groups to sports and swimming, there is something for everyone!

Classes are grouped into three intensity levels, and these are a guide to help you find the right opportunity for you.

Some people may be eligible to attend our referral classes which have been specially designed to support people living with a range of long-term health conditions.

Class Levels and Descriptors October 2019

Level 1 Classes
Low-intensity sessions for those starting an active lifestyle or living with a long-term health condition.

Social Walking Groups

Walk Aberdeen Social Walking Groups

Short, sociable and community-based walks, lasting up to an hour with opportunities suitable for everyone.  Walks are free and are led by trained volunteer walk leaders and finish with a cup of tea and chat for which there is a small charge.

Move More Walks

Move More Health Walk (R)

A one hour walk which departs from the same centre each week but has a variety of different routes to ensure no two weeks are the same.  Longer and shorter routes available for participants of all fitness levels.

First Steps

This class offers 20 minutes of strength and balance exercises followed by a short, flat walk. 

Active Lifestyles Gentle Exercise

A gentle class to music allowing participants to move and awaken all areas of the body working on fitness, balance, coordination and strength. 

Active Lifestyles Seated Yoga

A gentler form of yoga that can be done sitting on a chair or standing while using the chair for support. The class focuses on mobility, flexibility, strength and balance.

Active Lifestyles Stable & Able (R)

A session for those looking to improve their strength, balance and posture.

Active Lifestyles Stable & Able Maintenance

1

A session for those looking to improve their strength, balance and posture.Session open to people currently attending 1 Stable and Able session and encouraged to attend a second class.

Carers Stable & Able (R)

A session for those looking to improve their strength, balance and posture. Sessions open to people with a caring role and the person they care for.

Exercise After Stroke (R)

1

12-week progressive exercise class for participants who have had a stroke. The aim is to improve strength, function and stamina.

Move More Gentle Movement (R)

For those who have not been active for a while and would consider themselves to have a lower level of fitness. Class based on Qi Gong which focusses on slow and controlled movements of the body in time with breathing.  All exercises can be done seated or standing.

A progressive 12-week class for those new or returning to Technogym.  The class aims to improve confidence, fitness levels & above all promote enjoyable exercise.

Move More Circuit Group (R)

One-hour class ideal for those who wish to push that little bit more.  Participants move around a variety of stations working on all major muscle groups with the support of our fully qualified instructors.

Active Lifestyles Pickleball

Pickleball is a paddle sport (similar to a racquet sport) that combines elements of badminton, tennis, & table tennis & is played indoors on a badminton court.  These fun and sociable sessions are open to beginners and improvers.

Relaxed skating session offering quiet environment, inclusive, friendly, welcoming, fun & affordable.  Safe space & adapted equipment available. Session open to all family, friends & supporters.

These sessions are designed for players of any standard including complete beginners or those who haven’t played for many years. There is usually a coach available to give guidance to anyone who would like to improve.
