Golf Guidance - Active Starts & Active Futures

This guidance is for Active Start and Active Futures members and their parents, guardians and responsible adults.

Golf Aberdeen promotes a child friendly environment where the safety of young people is paramount. Every effort is being made at Golf Aberdeen to ensure that every young person can play golf at whatever level they feel comfortable.

Be safe and have fun.

To parents/guardians

The parent/guardian of a young person who has a membership has a duty of care to them and to other people using the course.

All Sport Aberdeen facilities require that children who are eight years and under are accompanied by an adult. Please be aware that when playing a course, juniors will not be supervised by a member of staff.

This document is to assist you by identifying important areas of good practice, so that you can make an informed decision when allowing a young person to play golf.  Please discuss it with them and ensure they understand it before they use a Golf Aberdeen golf course without adult supervision.

Golf Aberdeen is committed to encouraging more young people to play golf.  Our courses therefore have no access restriction linked to golfing ability or handicap but clearly peoples’ time on a course will be more enjoyable if they have basics skills and good knowledge of the rules.

Golf Aberdeen does reserve the right to ask players to leave the course if they are not behaving appropriately and/or spoiling the enjoyment of other users. Please help us to encourage young golfers by helping them to get the most out of the game. This can be done by improving their golf and understanding etiquette on the course.

To Active Start and Active Futures Members

Its great that you want to play golf and Golf Aberdeen wants you to enjoy every minute of it. Nobody can be an expert overnight so work on your game, take a lead from more experienced players and find out as much as you can about the rules.

So you can be safe and have fun, we ask that you always follow these 5 rules:

  1.  Ensure that your parents/guardian knows where you are and who you are with.
  2. Treat each other with respect.
  3. Make sure there is no bullying or harassment.
