Active Schools is sportscotland’s national initiative that aims to get more children, more active, more often.

Delivered in Aberdeen by Sport Aberdeen’s Active Schools Team, Active Schools work with all primary, secondary and ASN schools in the city to increase the number of children being active.

The team are responsible for creating opportunities and encouraging all children and young people's to participate in physical activity and sport.

Each of our Active Schools Coordinators work for a set of associated school groups (ASG); these are made up of one of the secondary schools in the city along with each of their associated primary schools.

Active Schools Projects and Events

Aberdeen Youth Games 

The Aberdeen Youth Games is an exciting and innovative citywide sport and culture programme delivered in partnership between Robert Gordon University (RGU), Sport Aberdeen and North East of Scotland College. Click here for more information on Aberdeen Youth Games.

Looked After Project

Active Girls Committee 

The Active Girls Committee aims to get more girls, especially those in secondary school, more active. The committee comprises of girls from each academy in the city, who endeavour to inspire their peers and increase the number of girls regularly taking part in sport and physical activity. Volunteer with Active Schools

The Active Schools Aberdeen Team are responsible for putting in place and driving forward a range of planned activities in both school and community settings to help encourage children and young people's participation in the physical activity and sport.
