The 10K Route Map

The BHGE 10K Running Festival is a road race so please make sure you stay on the road at all times.

Remember to be courteous towards other runners and of course, make sure you have fun!

Race Numbers/Race Timings

Each runner will be issued with a race number with a disposable timing chip attached to the back in their race pack.

This system is user friendly. All you need to do is remember your race number!

The disposable system allows runners to have more flexibility at the finish line, since the removal of the chip is not required. If you are using the single use chip, please ensure the following to receive an accurate time:

  • Race bib is clearly visible on the front of the torso
  • Race bib is unaltered and unmodified
  • Race bib is pinned in all four corners
  • Race bib is not covered (jackets, runner belts, water bottles, etc.)

Please note: Swapping race numbers is prohibited. The race number allocated to you is for use by you only.

Help! My T-shirt doesn’t fit

There will be a t-shirt swap available in the Information Tent from 8.00am on the morning of the race. Please bring the t-shirt you have been sent to allow you to swap it for an alternative size. (subject to availability)

Can I run with my buggy?

Due to health and safety reasons, runners are not able to take part in the race while pushing a buggy. You can, however, take your part in the Fun Run with your little one. The Fun Run is a short family race and is free to enter on race day at the race village.

Can I have a refund?

Refunds are not available for the race but participants are able to transfer their space to someone else up until the closing date for general entries.

Do you have parking?

Parking will be extremely limited on the morning of the race.

Some car parking is available at the Queen’s Links Leisure Car Park, Links Road, Aberdeen AB24 5EN. Please note this area will be busy and the roads surrounding it will be closed prior to and during the race.

There is also parking in Aberdeen City Centre which is only a short walk from the start and finish lines.

Will you have toilets?

Toilets will be available on race day in the Race Village which is based between both the start and finish lines. There will also be toilets along the route near the 4K mark at Footdee.

Are there changing rooms?

Yes. Changing tents are available in the race village where you can also leave your belongings.

Changing facilities are staffed throughout the whole event by BHGE 10K volunteers. Please note all items will be left at their own risk and the BHGE 10K Running Festival is not responsible for any lost or stolen items.

Will I have somewhere to put my bag?

Yes. A bag drop area can be found within the changing tents located in the race village.

Can I use my headphones?

We have been advised by Police Scotland and Aberdeen City Council that runners need to be able to hear emergency communications and therefore have advised that runners do not use headphones/earphones.

What is the youngest age to enter the 10K?

As a Scottish Athletics affiliated race, all runners must be 16 or older on race day for the 10K.
We do have a 2K which is suitable for P6 – S4!
