We can’t wait to welcome our members and customers back to all of our programmes and venues and we are delighted that you now have access to fitness, indoor and outdoor tennis, bowls, golf and snowsports. All of the relevant information on safely returning to these sports and venues can be found by clicking on their links.
Unfortunately, the operating constraints and logistical challenges resulting from Covid-19 mean that we are unable to open all of our venues and restart all of our programmes at this time. Below you will find further information on the venues that we are still to reopen and their indicative reopening timescales.
We would like to emphasise that these are indicative dates and are subject to change. We will share confirmed reopening dates by email to our members and via our website and social media channels, as they become available. As we progress further through Scotland’s route map, we will constantly review and build upon our programmes as restrictions ease.
We would like to sincerely thank all of our members and customers for your support during these difficult and challenging months, it has truly been appreciated by everyone at Sport Aberdeen.
An update on…
We understand that our members, customers and Learn To Swim participants are keen to get back in the water as soon as possible and we want to welcome you back to swimming just as soon as we can. You can find all of the information you need about safely returning to swimming here.
Due to operating constraints, we will be taking a phased approach to reopening the pools. At the moment, we anticipate that the below pools will reopen as follows:
- Tullos Swimming Pool – October 5 2020
- Bucksburn Swimming Pool – October 5 2020
- Beach Leisure Centre – Late October
Upon initial reopening, the timetables will mainly include swimming lessons and club swimming sessions, however, we will include as many public swimming sessions as we can. The timetables and opening hours will be constantly reviewed, and adjusted where necessary.
Unfortunately, we are currently unable to give an update on when the below swimming pools will reopen, due to restrictions around members of the public entering school buildings:
This also applies to swimming lessons at:
- Dyce Academy Pool
- Dyce Primary Pool
- Grammar Swimming Pool
- Orchard Brae Pool
We know that our skaters are very keen to get back to the ice and we are working with the national organisations who support ice rink operators on reopening, as well as refreezing the ice pad. We will provide a firm reopening date as soon as possible.
Our lessons and coaching team has recently been in contact via email with all of our swimming, gymnastics, ice skating and tennis participants, in order to produce updated lessons and coaching programmes in line with Covid-19 guidelines. We are currently working through your responses and will be back in touch with you as soon as we have a further update to share.
You can find all of information you need about safely returning to lessons and coaching here.
Whilst organised contact sport is now permitted under the Scottish Government’s Phase 3 route map, there are still factors which limit our ability to return to use at this time. We anticipate our 3G pitches reopening as follows:
Other 3G pitches at Cults and Get active @ Lochside will remain closed for the time being, due to restrictions around members of the public entering school buildings
We are currently completing an exercise whereby all clubs and regular hirers should have received an email from Sport Aberdeen asking to complete a survey to let us know their current situation, and preferred times/days for returning. We have had over 100 responses to this, representing over 75% of our existing hirers. If you have not completed this survey, you may want to check your junk folder, or with other members of your club as this will depend on the club contact we have on record. If you still do not believe you have received this, you can contact us on email@example.com and your enquiry will be forwarded to the correct person.
Over the coming weeks, we will plan a return to full programme where possible. Unfortunately this may mean that your club does not get the same times and the same venue as before, but we will do our best to minimise this. Please bear in mind that that these are all temporary measures, and as we move to Phase 4 of the Scottish Government route map, social distancing rules will change and more physical space will become available.
