Customer Announcement - Northfield Swimming Pool Modernisation Project Customer Announcement – 14th March 2018 Northfield Swimming Pool – Modernisation Project Sport Aberdeen is delighted to announce plans for the refurbishment and expansion of Northfield Swimming Pool. Together with Aberdeen City Council, Sport Aberdeen is committing a very significant financial investment to deliver a state of the art health, fitness and sport hub. In addition to technical upgrades to the pool itself, the new facilities will provide an exciting wellness centre for the local community and for those from across the city. The introduction of a 40-station gym and exercise studio will complement the existing FIFA approved high class 3G artificial turf pitch on the site. The investment will secure the centre’s long-term future, provide additional capacity to the venue, and will build on the centre’s role in the community and as a vital sports facility for the city. Discussions regarding plans for the refurbishment have commenced and there is an extensive work plan to pull together. The site will be updated with news on this over the coming weeks. Unfortunately, Northfield Swimming Pool had to close due to recurring interconnected technical problems. Despite the best efforts from Sport Aberdeen staff and specialist technicians over many months, these problems accumulated to such an extent that the swimming pool is simply unable to function. Northfield Swimming Pool will remain closed until this project is completed. Please be advised that the 3G pitch has not been affected by this closure and is operating as normal, as always subject to availability and weather conditions. The Northfield Swimming Pool reception will remain open to take bookings for the pitch and for further information. We ask that people check the Sport Aberdeen website and social media channels for updates or call the pool helpline on 01224 214496 for further information.
