Swim Skills Intensive

Our Easter Camps are available NOW!

Available for school-age children at all levels at several pools across Aberdeen

An intensive week-long learn to swim course for school-age children with a 45-minute session each day Mon – Fri.

Class levels

Swim Skills 1 (A and B)

Aim:

To develop water confidence and core aquatic skills without aids.

Objectives:

  • Develop confidence and ability to perform a wide range of core aquatic skills without buoyancy aids
  • Develop the basic technique of the four strokes
  • Introduce the basic technique of sculling
  • Develop balance and buoyancy through a variety of activities.
Swim Skills 2 (A and B)

Aim:

To increase the competency of the core aquatic skills and develop basic stroke technique.

Objectives:

  • Introduce and progress new core aquatic skills
  • Develop stroke technique to include all four strokes
  • Introduction to diving (pool permitting)
  • Develop awareness and feel for the water through a variety of core aquatic skills.
Swim Skills 3

Aim:

Introduce more advanced stroke technique and achieve Triple S standard.

Objectives:

  • Further develop competency in all four strokes
  • Development of diving
  • Further develop butterfly and breaststroke aiming to achieve legal technique
Older Beginners

An intensive week-long learn to swim course for beginners aged 8-12 years.

Objectives:

  • Develop confidence and ability to perform a wide range of core aquatic skills without buoyancy aids
  • Develop the basic technique of the four strokes
  • Introduce the basic technique of sculling
  • Develop balance and buoyancy through a variety of activities.
PASN

These sessions are for school-aged children with Additional Support Needs and include a parent in the water along with the teacher to help children feel comfortable and learn skills more quickly. Parents will support their child and work with the teaching staff to set a training programme for their child.

Get active multisport camps are loads of fun for children aged 5-12!

Our Easter Camps are available NOW!

During these week-long and single-day camps children will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of sports and fun activities. The children are split into age groups and will get a taste of athletics, basketball, netball, football, rugby, dodgeball, tennis, volleyball and much more. We like to end our week with some friendly, spirited competitions on a Friday. During the camp, our trained staff will support your child to engage and learn new skills.   • Who are the camps for? Any child keen to get active, aged between 5-12 years.
  • Times: Our core hours are from 08:30 – 16:30.

Tennis & Multisport

Our Easter Camps are available NOW!

Our team of LTA qualified coaches teach basic fundamental tennis skills through game-based methods, building to a final competition at the end of the week. A typical camp day includes a morning and afternoon tennis session as well as multisport such as athletics, football, cricket, handball, and much more. We have access to both indoor and outdoor facilities as well as the play park during supervised lunchtimes. View our camp FAQs at the bottom of the page for more information.

Details:
  • Who are the camps for? Any child keen to get active, aged between 5-12 years. We split the camps into two sub-groups based on age: 5-8 years and 9-12 years.
  • Times: Hours are from 08:30 – 16:30.
  • Dates: Week 1: April 1st – April 5th. Week 2: April 8th to April 12th. You can book into the whole week or just select the days that suit you.
  • Cost: £190 for the full week or £47.50 for a single day.

Snowsports & Multi-Activity

Our Easter Camps are available NOW!

Our popular all-day camps are suitable for 6-12-year-olds!

These multi-activity week-long camps run the Aberdeen City school holidays at Adventure Aberdeen Snowsports Centre, Garthdee and are a huge hit with children! Standard sessions will run from 08:30 – 16:30.

Our qualified, friendly instructors will treat children to a whole array of exciting activities including skiing, tubing, snowboarding and multi-sports on our football pitch.

Dates: Week 1: April 1st – April 5th. Week 2: April 8th to April 12th.

Returning after a successful trial last summer –  A day out with Adventure Aberdeen in the Burn O’Vat for an adventure day!

Following a week of fun on the slopes, on Friday’s the children will head out to Burn O’Vat to build dens in the woods, splash about in a stream while exploring the vat. They will have the opportunity to step through the waterfall into the cave or enjoy the waterfall cascading down over their head. Transport and instruction is provided by Adventure Aberdeen.

What do I need to pack for my child?
  • A packed lunch (plus snacks) – please inform us of any allergies.
  • A drinks bottle – no fizzy drinks (water refills are available on-site).
  • Gloves
  • Children should wear a long sleeve t-shirt and full-length trousers.
  • Appropriate footwear for sporting activities (no open-toe shoes)
  • It is a good idea to pack spare clothing and footwear if possible.
  • Sunscreen (children must apply themselves) for external activities on a sunny day.
  • Any medication is required with instructions as to how this is administered.
  • We ask the child is NOT given any money to buy items and that valuables are left at home.

Looking for ways to keep the 5-14-year-olds in your life happy?

Why not send them on an adventure? From gorge walking to coasteering and rock climbing, we have it all!

Activities:

Gorge walking 

Gear up with wetsuits, helmets and buoyancy aids to explore the fantastic Lui Gorge (near Braemar). This activity involves walking and scrambling beside the gorge as well as swimming and wading in it. There is also the option to jump from various heights and go behind the curtain of a large waterfall!

Coasteering & Scrambling 

Explore Aberdeen’s spectacular coastline by scrambling over rocks, wading, swimming and jumping into deep water. Professional Instructors will guide and closely supervise throughout the journey.

Rock Climbing & Abseiling

Participants can climb upwards learning to move carefully and smoothly and descend cliffs by abseiling down fixed ropes. It pulls upon and develops confidence, self-reliance, trust, patience and for some, the ability to overcome their fear of heights!

Learn to Bike 

Basic bike control lessons for young children.

Mountain biking

Spend a day with our instructors on a bike journey.

Beach day 

Travel down to Balmedie beach for some sledging down sand dunes, digging big holes playing games, finding treasure and rest for a picnic lunch.

Canoeing Day 

Spend the day with our instructors exploring the River Dee in a canoe.

Forest Day 

We will travel to a local forest within Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire where we will explore , make shelters and dens, play games and go for a woodland journey.
