The BHGE 10k Running Festival is a road race so please make sure you stay to the road at all times. Remember to be courteous towards other runners and of course - have fun!

Important Timings 

08:00 - Race Village and Information Tent opens 

08:30 - Family Activities open in the Race Village 

08:45 - Active Schools 2k race warm up at the Beach Leisure Centre 

09:00 - Active Schools 2k Race

Entrants can arrive at the Beach Leisure Centre from 8am to register, leave any personal items and take part in the 2k warm up with the race starting at 9am.

09:05 - 2k Wheelchair Race

09:10 - 10k warm up at the Presentation Stage in the Race Village 

09:25 - Wheelchair 10k Race

Entrants can arrive from 8am, leave any personal items in the changing tent, take part in the warm up at the main stage with the race starting at 9.25am.

There is no on the day registration for the 10k races as everything you need will be in your race pack.

09:30 - 10k Race

Entrants can arrive from 8am, leave any personal items in the changing tent, take part in the warm up at the main stage with the race starting at 9.30am. 

There is no on the day registration for the 10k races as everything you need will be in your race pack.

Please Note: Any entrants still running the race at 11am will be asked to move to the pavement to complete the route. This is in order to have the roads reopened efficiently.

09:35 - Family Fun Run

Families will be able to sign up on the day of the race between 8am and 9.20am and ready to start the race at 9.35am.

09:45 - Active Schools 2k and 2k Wheelchair Prize Presentations at the stage 

10:40 - 10k Presentations at the stage

12:00 - Race Village closes

Water Stations

Water will be available at the 5k and 8.5k water stations around the 10k race route. 

There will also be water supplied by Deeside Mineral Water at the finish line area.

There will be recycling facilities available throughout the race village so please consider the environment with any empty plastic bottles. 

Race Numbers / Race Timing 

Each runner will be issued with a race number with a disposable timing chip attached to the back of it in their race pack. 

This system is user friendly - you just need to remember one thing - the race number!  

The disposable system allows runners to have more flexibility at the finish line, since the removal of the chip is not required.If you are using the single use chip, please ensure the following in order to receive an accurate time.

  • Race bib is clearly visible on the front of the torso
  • Race bib is unaltered and unmodified 
  • Race bib is pinned in all four corners
  • Race bib is not covered (jackets, runner belts, water bottles, etc.)
 Please note: Swapping race numbers is prohibited - The race number allocated to you is for use by you only.

T-shirt Swap 
There will be a t-shirt swap available in the Information Tent from 8am on the morning of the race. Please bring the t-shirt you have been sent to allow you to swap it for an alternative size. (subject to availability)

Due to health and safety reasons, runners are not able to take part pushing a buggy.

Refunds are not available for the race but participants are able to transfer their space to else up until the closing date for general entries on Monday 30th April 2018.


Parking will be extremely limited on the morning of the race.

Some car parking is available at the Queen's Links Leisure Car Park, Links Road, Aberdeen, AB24 5EN but please note this area will be busy and the roads surrounding it will be closed during the race. 

There is also parking in Aberdeen City Centre which is only a short walk from the start and finish line.


Toilets will be available on race day in the Race Village which is based in-between both the start and finish line. 

Along the route there will be toilets open near the 4k mark at Footdee. 

Changing Tent / Bag Drop 

Runners can leave their items in the Changing Tent / Bag Drop located in the Race Village.

A numbered bag tag will be available in your race pack. Attach this to your belongings before dropping them off in the bag drop area. 

This area will be manned throughout the whole event by BHGE 10k volunteers but please note runners leave their items at their own risk and the BHGE 10k Running Festival is not responsible for any lost or stolen items. 

Leaving the Route 
If any participant needs to leave the route throughout the race, please let one of the race marshals know so they can ensure you are accounted for.  


We at Sport Aberdeen have been advised by Police Scotland and Aberdeen City Council that runners need to be able to hear emergency communications and therefore have advised that runners do not use headphone/earphones.
