There are 5 junior swimming clubs across the city who are members of the University of Aberdeen Performance Swimming Programme. UOA is an elite programme and relies on swimmers coming through from the junior clubs on a regular basis.

When your child completes Swim Skills 4 or above, they have the opportunity to trial with a swimming club. The squad members are required to attend 2 or 3 sessions per week. If your child progresses into a swimming club the competition events begin at the age of 8 with local mini meets and novice galas. These are fun events and introduce the swimmer to the excitement of a swimming gala.

Not all swimmers wish to commit themselves to many hours of training and most clubs have a section for swimmers who wish to train fewer sessions for enjoyment and fitness or to compete on a limited basis in order to fit in with other activities that they may participate in.
