Call for volunteers for the BHGE 10k Running Festival

Sunday 20th May - Aberdeen’s Beach Boulevard

We are on the lookout for 300 enthusiastic and motivated people to lend a helping hand at Aberdeen’s longest running road race!

Since the race first set off in 1987 it has grown over the 30 years, now including wheelchair races, the Active Schools 2k race, a Fun Run and a race village with family activities and catering. These additions have turned the race into the Running Festival it is today.

The race is not for profit with all income being directly invested back into the local community through Sport Aberdeen’s venues and programmes which encourage people of all ages and abilities to be healthy and stay active.

Without the help of our lovely volunteers, the race simply couldn’t happen!

There are various roles available on race day including marshalling and cheering the runners along the route, handing out race medals and water and setting up and taking down the start and finish line and race village.

Saturday 19th - 11.30am – 4pm – Can split if volunteers can only manage a few hours

Jobs include setting up the race village tents and the finish line container

Sunday 20th – Race Day - Timings vary

There are various roles available on race day including marshalling, cheering the runners along the route, handing out race medals and water and packing up once the final runner has crossed the finish line.

This year’s race takes place on Sunday 20th of May. Volunteer shifts will last no longer than 5 hours and everyone who dedicates their time to help will receive a race t-shirt and lunch in the Hilton Doubletree once their role has finished.

If this sounds of interest and you can spare a few hours to help, please email [email protected]
