A vegan café, mini skateboarding ramp and 10,000 feet…it’s only the Baker Hughes 10K Race Village

5.6.16

As anticipation builds for the 2016 race, the long awaited details of the family focused race village have been revealed and include some interesting new attractions.

This will include, Bonobo, a vegan pop up café offering vegan snacks and breakfast items to fuel runners and spectators through the day. For the more adventurous of us, Transition Extreme are going to build a mini ramp so you can try your hand at skateboarding and BMXing ; or potentially just watch in amazement whilst eating your vegan treats.

Regular highlights of the village include our Charity Tent, packed full of stalls showcasing our affiliated charities with games, face painting, a bouncy castle and even a photo booth this year.

Street Sport are bringing back their inflatable football pitch and Aberdeen Science Centre will be entertaining you with the science of sport whilst encouraging you to sign up for the Fun Run; you can sign up on the day and buggies, mascots and kids of all ages are encouraged.

Commenting, a Sport Aberdeen spokesperson said:

“We’re delighted with this year’s Baker Hughes 10K Race Village.

“As ever, the City has shown amazing support in the lead up to this year’s Baker Hughes 10K and Sunday 15th May is set to be a great day out for all the family.

“Whether taking part in one of our races or there to support the runner in your life, there is plenty to do, see, eat, and try.”

With 5,000 runners expected to attend the event, Sport Aberdeen today urged the public to use public transport wherever possible. Details of road closures will be published in due course.
