Aberdeen’s Golden Games won the Healthier Lifestyle Award at the 2015 Scottish Health Awards on the 4th November.

The Healthier Lifestyle Award recognises an individual or team who motivate and support people to make a change, helping them to lead a more active, healthier and fulfilling life. The Golden Games has in 5 years supported hundreds of over 65’s in the City to participate, enjoy and grow, becoming a key part of supporting older adults to be active all year round.

Partners Aberdeen City Council, Sport Aberdeen, NHS Grampian, Aberdeen Sports Village and AFC Community Trust have helped develop the Games which as of 2016 will offer 7 days of free physical activity opportunities for over 65’s in Aberdeen from the 9th – 17th June. Many of the activities trialed in previous Golden Games are now regular weekly Active Ageing sessions including Table Tennis, Pilates and Linedancing, offering long term opportunity to remain more active.

Sport Aberdeen are extremely proud to support the Golden Games and would like to thank and congratulate everyone who helps make the Games the wonderful event it is
