October intensive swim lessons now available to book at Sport Aberdeen

8 October 2026

Sport Aberdeen is running a series of intensive swim lessons throughout the October holidays to support children, young people and adults to be more confident in the water.

Places are now available to book for the Swim Skills Intensive Lessons at Get active @ Cults and Bucksburn Swimming Pool.

Running from Monday, October 12th, to Friday, October 23rd, the five-day intensive lessons will give swimmers the opportunity to enjoy daily sessions throughout the school holidays, helping them build confidence, improve technique and make faster progress through regular practice.

Learning to swim and knowing how to stay safe in the water are vital skills that help prevent drowning and keep people safer around pools and Scotland’s rivers, lochs and coastline.

Courses are available for a range of ages and abilities including beginners (aged 4.5 to 9 years) an older beginner class (for ages 9 to 15) at Get active @ Cults, and adult beginner lessons for those aged 16 plus. School-age group lessons last 45 minutes, while Cults also offers 30-minute one-to-one lessons.

Dianne Breen, Coached Programmes Manager, Sport Aberdeen, said: “Intensive swimming lessons are a fantastic way to build swim skills and water confidence thanks to a consistent routine of time in the water across five consecutive days.

“Swimming is not only great for physical and mental wellbeing, but also a vital life skill and the October holidays are a great opportunity for those learning to swim to make real progress.”

One booking covers all five Monday to Friday sessions with courses available across both weeks of the October school holidays.

At Bucksburn Swimming Pool, selected school age classes form part of Sport Aberdeen’s Coach Education Programme and are delivered in part by trainee teachers under the supervision of qualified teachers and a Scottish Swimming tutor.
