Tennis Aberdeen
Aberdeen Tennis Centre is the home of Tennis Aberdeen and is a specialised tennis venue with indoor and outdoor courts.
Court hire is available through our online booking system, we also offer a range of tennis sessions and coaching in our Aberdeen Tennis Academy. Our academy programme is for juniors (from three years) up to adults, with a pathway in place to develop players of all abilities in line with the British Tennis framework.
Our Tennis membership gets you on court with access to outdoor courts, indoor courts, and our range of tennis sessions including cardio tennis, social tennis and adult matchplay, as well as all the benefits of our Fitness membership.

Our tennis membership options are perfectly crafted for racquet sports fans!
Our Tennis membership gets you on court with access to outdoor courts, indoor courts, and our range of tennis sessions including Cardio Tennis, social tennis and adult Matchplay.

Indoor courts are available for hire at no additional cost to our Tennis or Get active members (conditions apply).
Outdoor courts are included in the Tennis and Get active Aberdeen Tennis Academy coaching programme membership packages (conditions apply).

Tennis Sessions
Check out our range of coach-led and social tennis sessions open to adults (16+ years) included as part of Sport Aberdeen’s Tennis or Get active membership packages, or on a pay and play basis.
These sessions are led by a coach and held on the outdoor courts at Aberdeen Tennis Centre. They consist of conditioned games, point-play drills and organised singles and doubles match-play. Session themes are delivered according to the needs of the group. If there is anything in particular that you would like to work on, just let the coach know and they will aim to incorporate it into their plans.
These classes are split into two ability levels:
- Improver: Player can hold a basic rally, serve and return. Previous match play experience is helpful but not necessary.
- Advanced: Player has previous match play experience and a tactical understanding of how to win a point. Technically can control the direction of the serve with pace and spin. Consistent controlled return of serve and groundstrokes.
If you are unsure about your ability level then we recommend trying the Improver session and then the coach can move you into the advanced group if appropriate.

These sessions are held on the indoor courts at Aberdeen Tennis Centre and are aimed at intermediate players that can rally, serve and play points out. It runs without a coach and consist of organised match play amongst the players. A great opportunity to meet other tennis enthusiasts and practice your game. Tennis balls and rackets provided.

Cardio Tennis is a fun group activity featuring tennis drills to give players an ultimate, high energy workout to music – the ‘Zumba’ of tennis! Open to all abilities, this is a great way for beginners to get into the sport and for stronger players to improve their fitness.
These sessions are on Mondays from 09:45 – 10:45.

Suitable for youngsters aged 2.5–5 years before they start school.
during these 30-minute sessions, children from two and a half years old will develop basic tennis skills along with agility, balance and coordination. Delivered in a fun and friendly environment, children will learn how to work in groups and follow instructions, giving them a head start in school and other sports.
These sessions do require a parent/guardian to accompany the child on court.

This is a specialised tennis session aimed at older adults (55+ years) delivered by a coach on the indoor tennis courts at Aberdeen Tennis Centre and followed by tea/coffee and a chance to socialise.

An adult coaching session for wheelchair tennis, delivered on the indoor courts by our coaching team. The one-hour session will train chair movement, hitting drills and point play. You can use your own sports wheelchair, or one can be provided for you if arranged in advance.

Tennis for Free is a charity that supports tennis provision around the UK targeting all members of the community.
Tennis Aberdeen runs free, weekly coach led sessions aimed at families at Ruthrieston Outdoor Sport Centre during the spring to mid-autumn season.
We also have table tennis, pickleball and short tennis available are venues across the city, including sessions for Active Lifestyles participants. Please visit our timetables page to find the right session for you.
Lessons & Coaching
We offer year-round tennis coaching for all ages and abilities through Aberdeen Tennis Academy, structured in line with the British Tennis framework.
Our coaching team has experience of coaching a wide range of players and specialise in different areas of the game. They are passionate about giving you a great experience on the court and helping you to meet your goals.
Aberdeen Tennis Academy Coaching Programme
Tennis Aberdeen’s professional tennis pathway is in place to support both junior and adult player development on a continual learning basis, allowing you to develop your tennis skills throughout the whole year. Our aim is to create opportunities for everyone to achieve their desired goals, from developing their game both technically and tactically, playing tennis in competitions, increasing health and fitness or simply to have lots of fun and meet new friends.
All our coaching sessions are a 50-week continuous programme, payable by monthly direct debit with a minimum contract of one month. There is a two-week break over the Christmas period. To view the full terms and conditions for Aberdeen Tennis Academy, please click here.

Aberdeen Tennis Academy programme members will receive a number of benefits including:
- Coaching from qualified professionals: All of our coaches are trained, qualified and accredited through the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA), holding valid first aid certificates and have completed mandatory child safeguarding courses and Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) checks
- Continuous assessment: Supported by a player development pathway in line with the British Tennis framework
- Free access to our outdoor tennis courts: Inclusive use of our outdoor courts for you and a guest. This will give you the opportunity to start participating in our ‘in-house’ competitions through box leagues
- Access to online record of achievement – log in and track your progression at any time.

How to book
Anyone can book one of our tennis courts. You can book onto all of our courts online, using our MySportAberdeen booking system via the book court link above, over the phone or at your preferred venue reception desk.
Get active members can get on court with access to badminton, squash, table tennis, tennis (indoors and outdoors), at facilities located across Aberdeen, with seven-day book ahead privileges.

Do I need to bring my own equipment?
No, we sell and rent out rackets at a small cost for you to use. Balls can also be purchased.
Do you offer lessons for children?
