Lochside ASG Active Schools is holding a small series of winter races to give P5-P7 pupils the chance to practice cross-country running in colder weather and on muddier surfaces!

The Lochside ASG Cross Country event give pupils the opportunity to experience cross-country running conditions before signing up for other events, such as our Fun-Run Series in May.

Pupils will run 400m laps of the Loirston playing field and will be encouraged to run 3 laps (1200m) but if they are struggling then we would encourage them to complete one or two laps instead and then aim for a longer distance the next time.

Depending on the number of pupils signed up to participate, there will likely be 2 races (either P5/P6 running together, or P6/P7 running together).

Please don’t be put off by running against boys/girls or against pupils in different year groups; it is a chance for you to gain your own experience and to improve your own time or the number of laps you complete.

Race Details:

Scheduled dates: Thursday 22nd February, Thursday 29th February & 7th March.

Race 1: 3.45pm

Race 2: 4.00pm

Venue: Loirston Primary School grass playing field (parking available at Cove Health Centre, although we encourage you to walk where possible)

These tend to be cold afternoons and sometimes wet/muddy, so suitable sports shoes are required. Warm clothing for before/after races and any relevant inhalers, water bottles etc must be brought along. Pupils participating will be supervised by Active Schools but any pupils spectating must be looked after.
