We offer opportunities for those involved with sport in Aberdeen to develop their knowledge and participate in courses which are fundamental for a safe coaching environment. Our training calendar gives coaches, officials, volunteers and athletes the chance to gain qualifications which promote safe and professional coaching practice.

Emergency First Aid at Work

This course provides basic lifesaving, first aid and workplace health and safety regulations, covering the following: Health and safety (first aid) regulations, managing an incident, priorities of first aid, treatment of an unconscious casualty, resuscitation, shock, choking, seizures, bleeding, common sports workplace related injuries.

Child Wellbeing and Protection in Sport

This training includes an online module (module 1) which is theory-based followed by a tutor-led online workshop (module 2). This is suitable for all adults involved in sports organisations that have participants under 18 years of age. It is targeted at all practitioners e.g. all coaches and volunteer working and volunteering directly with children and young people.

All courses are delivered virtually.

Child Wellbeing and Protection Officer Training

This 3-hour Child Wellbeing and Protection Officer (CWPO) Training is suitable for individuals responsible for leading their club or organisation in the wellbeing and protection of children and young people. Learners will have the opportunity to develop knowledge and skills to manage concerns through the use of interactive case studies and group work.

Using layered case studies, interactive group work and personal reflection tasks, delegates will be supported to develop key skills and knowledge required to promote the wellbeing of children and young people in sport and respond effectively to concerns of harm or abuse. As this workshop is aimed at those leading their organisation in this area, case management skills are a significant element of the training.

Those attending this workshop must have already attended a Child Wellbeing and Protection in Sport (CWPS) workshop.

Please note the minimum age to attend this workshop is 18 years.  All courses are delivered virtually.
