How often do you get active and at which venue?

Northfield is my most local venue, so I go there, Jesmond and Sheddocksley. I come about three or four times a week. I’m really pushing myself to meet my fitness goals.

Do you go to classes or go to the gym?

Sometimes I get up early before work, but I haven’t been able to do that recently, so classes really help me keep to a routine.

Which classes do you normally do?

I started off with abs and core, and then I built myself up to doing pump and then doing pump a couple of times a week. Now I’m doing circuits a couple of times a week. I’m getting really fit and strong, so I’m really happy about that!

Who do you get active with?

I normally come to the gym on my own because I see it as my me time, but my sisters in law and my wife come to Northfield as well, so we often do classes together.

How does getting active make you feel?

I feel really great, I put on some weight in lockdown, and I wanted to just get myself in a bit better shape, and now I’m seeing results. It’s only been a few months, and I’m feeling happy and confident. It makes me feel really good!

How does getting active improve your wellbeing?

It definitely helps after a stressful day at work, being able to let out some stress and get the endorphins pumping. Then seeing results make me feel good as well, it builds my confidence and determination.

Do you have a favourite venue?

It depends. All the classes are so good. I book my classes way in advance so I know what I’m doing. I do a mix of cardio and strength, so it really just depends on the availability.

When did you join Sport Aberdeen?

Only in March! It’s not been very long

What inspired you to join Sport Aberdeen?

I used to go to a different gym but I took some time out and wanted to get back into it

What would you say to encourage others to get active?

If you have something you want to do for yourself, you should! Come along, it’s a really friendly and welcoming place, everyone has always got a smile on their face.

Do you have any feedback about our instructors?

Only positive feedback! Everyone is really friendly, always there to help, and really welcoming.
