Opportunity Role:

Active Schools Volunteer

Location:

Aberdeen City

Duration:

Minimum of 30 – 60 minutes per week

4 – 6 weeks (term time)

About the Role:

Active Schools are responsible for creating opportunities and encouraging all children and young people to participate in physical activity and sport. We take pride in providing a variety of activities across the schools in Aberdeen City as well as opportunities to gain leadership and coaching qualifications.

Active Schools Volunteers are a priority to our service. We are looking for approachable, enthusiastic and reliable people to join our team of volunteers. We have amazing opportunities for adults and young leaders to support the delivery of our free activity provision across the city. The role of an Active Schools Volunteer can align to your skills, attributes and experience. Becoming a volunteer with us will give you invaluable experience working with children and young people, opportunities to gain coaching qualifications and event management experience.  

Job Description:

  • Engage with and motivate children and young people to participate in sport or physical activity.
  • Activity leader / Support Activity Leader
  • Plan or assist with planning of activity sessions.
  • Be responsible or assist with first aid provision (training provided).
  • Prepare and put away equipment for activities.
  • Basic administration tasks such as register keeping.

Person Specification:

  • Willing to learn and engage with development opportunities.
  • Respectful and good communicator.
  • Encouraging and creative with a passion for motivating children and young people.
  • Interest in sport and physical activity (desirable not essential).
