The GICB Project is an exciting project delivered in partnership with Grampian Disability Sport to develop an inclusive cycling infrastructure across Grampian. Initial funding for a 3-year programme was successfully obtained through the National Lottery Improving Lives Community Fund, and additional funding has recently been secured to increase staffing capacity on this project for the next 12 months.  The focus of the next year of activity will be:

  • Supporting existing bothy programmes across Aberdeenshire
  • Creation and delivery of programme of new bothy in Aberdeen City
  • Recruitment of volunteers to support sustainable programmes at all sites
  • Identification of new bothy locations across Aberdeen City and Shire

The main purpose this role is develop and grow community cycling through the following;-

  • Develop relationships with the local cycling community; maintaining, developing and co-ordinating stakeholders and communities across Aberdeen City.
  • Plan, co-ordinate and co-deliver a strategic place-based approach to cycling delivery across Aberdeen City; ensuring a particular focus on children and young people in priority neighbourhoods.
  • Tackle inequalities through the programming and delivery of community programmes within SIMD areas of Aberdeen City; ensuring the delivery of an integrated pathway of cycling opportunities for the city.
  • Support and collaborate with the Rock Up and Ride programme of activity.
  • Monitor and report on the performance of partnership activation and behaviour change interventions.
  • Market and promote cycling opportunities across Aberdeen City.
  • Support, and build capacity, in the volunteer network of coaches and rider leaders.
