Radio Partners Announced for Running Festival

30.10.15

Northsound have lent their support as Radio Partners to the Baker Hughes 10K.

As part of the early bird launch, a hardy team from the radio station has pledged to train for next year’s race as part of the station’s support for the event.

Spaces for the race are now on sale at an early bird offer of just £21 instead of £24 and Northsound were on hand to mark the occasion with their running team.

Just under 5000 racers took part in this year’s race which has been nominated for Event of the Year at the Charity Champions Awards.

Radio partners, Northsound, will cover the event in the lead up and on race day, which will include a team of three training for the 10K. Micky Gavin, Suzie and Pete McIntosh of Northsound’s Breakfast Show are looking forward to the challenge.

Sport Aberdeen are delighted to have such enthusiastic partners on board one of the city’s most popular events and wish their team of runners the best of luck with their training.

Crawford Anderson, UK Geomarket Vice President for Baker Hughes said:

“Our longstanding sponsorship of this event has enabled us to, not only encourage our own employees to be more active but also the wider community. The Baker Hughes 10K raises thousands of pounds each year and we are proud to contribute towards improving the quality of life of those people whom the charity partners support. We are delighted to welcome Northsound onboard and I hope to see a record-breaking number of runners taking part in the 2016 race!”

“This all seemed like a good idea at the time.  I couldn’t run for a bus to be honest, but it gives me an excuse to start training and getting fit ahead of the event.  It is such a big occasion and it’s going to be great to see our city in all its glory”

Suzie, Breakfast Show Presenter, Northsound 1  said

“I am really looking forward to running the Baker Hughes 10K.  I have never run this type of race before, but it’s going to be such a buzz. I am looking forward to seeing people from all over the North East coming to watch and hopefully cheer us on.

“I have done a bit of running before, but I think I am going to spend most of the race making sure that pair are alright!  The Baker Hughes 10K is a massive deal and I’m delighted to be taking part.
