FAQ

FAQ

Everything you need to know to get out on the course, bringing that handicap down little by little…

Where can I play golf in Aberdeen?

The north east of Scotland is blessed with a vast array of stunning golf,  drawing in visitors from across the globe.  Within the city we offer four unique courses which are comparable to the best the area has to offer.

For woodland golf you can visit our MacKenzie Championship Course which is situated in Hazlehead.  Next to it we have a further two courses, the 18-hole Hazlehead Course and it’s 9-hole sibling.

If you prefer links golf we have the Kings Links Course next to Pittodrie Stadium and the Balnagask Course to the south of the city.

Our courses are open to all, whether you have unlimited access via a Sport Aberdeen Golf or Get active membership or if you’re just looking to play as a visitor.

How do I become a member?

Our Golf memberships offer great value.  Adults pay only £33.00 per month for unlimited access to each of our courses with discounts available to Juniors and via our Get active for less scheme.

Our Get active and Get active junior memberships allow access to all Sport Aberdeen activities including Swimming, Tennis, and Fitness, as well as everything the Golf membership provides.

Memberships

Do I need to register for a booking system?

Yes.

If you have any questions regarding this process, please contact memberships@sportaberdeen.co.uk

How far in advance can I book a tee time?

Online booking for members is available eight days in advance and will go live at 07:30 each day.

Phone booking will be available from 07:30 each day.

Please be advised that our starters cannot provide assistance with online booking system enquiries.

How do I cancel a tee time?

We request that golfers promptly cancel any tee times which they are unable to attend, to allow other golfers to book this time.

Tee times can be cancelled either via the starters box or within the BRS Golf online booking system.

If members repeatedly fail to arrive for tee times, the Golf Aberdeen team will be in touch to discuss next steps.

How do you ensure fair access?

To ensure fair access for golfers during periods of increased demand, we would ask that members please ensure that there is at least a four-hour gap between tee times booked and that each member seeks to book a maximum of two rounds per day.

Any member who books more than one tee time within a four hour period and on multiple courses will be contacted by the Golf Aberdeen team to discuss their bookings and clarification sought on which bookings are to be cancelled as it is unfair to reserve tee times you will not be able to use.

We would also remind members that memberships are not transferable and that bookings can only be made for tee times that you are personally attending.

Entry to the course will only be allowed if the person who made the booking is present at the starters box on arrival.

Can I play as a visitor?

Yes.  Visitors can book a tee time and pay 2 play up to 3 days in advance.  Payment is required in advance.

Play as a visitor

Can I hire a buggy?

Yes!

Getting around the golf course is now easier than ever!

Whether you are a member or a pay 2 play customer, golf buggies are indeed available to hire (subject to availability). Booking in advance is recommended and this can be made by calling the relevant golf starters box.

  • Cost:
    Members £15.00
    Visitors £20.00

All users of buggies will be required to read our Buggy Safety Policy and then sign to acknowledge their understanding.

Golfers can also request approval to use their own personal golf buggy on any of our courses. You will also need to provide our golf team with a valid medical certificate. All requests should be sent to Golf@sportaberdeen.co.uk

Can I hire equipment?

This is not something we currently offer but discussions are being had to add this to our offering in the near future.

Can I use my Get active for Less membership towards a round?

Yes – This membership provides a 50% discount on a round at any of our courses and 30% off a Golf only or Get active membership.  Find out more HERE.

Etiquette

Etiquette

Golf Etiquette
Is the customary code of polite behaviour in society or among members of a particular profession or group…

Golf is a game of skill, strategy, and sportsmanship. Whether you’re a seasoned pro or just starting out, adhering to proper golf etiquette is essential for an enjoyable and respectful experience for everyone on the course.

You have access to book our courses using the BRS App – however we ask that you do not book multiple courses on the same day with tee times you will not be able to use. This practise is deemed poor etiquette and a member of Golf Aberdeen staff will be contacting those golf members found to be doing this.

Dress code

At Golf Aberdeen we don’t have a formal dress code for golfers to adhere to whilst on the course. We do however ask that our golfers dress appropriately and with respect to other players. Appropriate footwear should be worn whilst on the course for safety and protection in differing weather conditions.

Arrival

Endeavour to arrive at least 15 minutes before your scheduled tee time to ensure you are ready to start your round at the correct time and don’t hold up play.

Avoiding slow play

When your group is not keeping up with the pace of play of the group in front of you, allow groups behind you to play through at an appropriate time if they wish to move quicker.

Mobile phone use

Although mobile phones are not banned on the course, we do not recommend that you use your phone whilst playing as this may cause slow play or cause a distraction resulting in an accident.

Maintaining the course

Please ensure you replace all divots. Use soil/seed mixture provided on the tee to fill in the divots that cannot be replaced directly (Hazlehead Pines). Rake bunkers once you have played your shot – removing all footprints. Repair all pitch marks.

Awareness of others on the course

When on the green, do not stand where you might distract fellow players. Do not make any noise when your fellow players are preparing to take their shot.

Never strike the ball when there is a chance that you may hit another golfer or member of the public. If your shot looks like it may hit anyone on the course, you should shout “fore” immediately.

Be aware of green staff and golf marshals on the course. Alert any staff in your view before taking your shot.

Acceptable behaviour

Abusive language and angry outbursts are not acceptable and you should keep your behaviour under control at all times. Be aware of the people around you as well as fellow players as this may make some uneasy.
